FAYETTEVILLE- Retired Air Force Senior Master Sergeant of 210 Kirkland Drive passed away Saturday, July 16, 2011, at the age of 75. Mr. Shiver, "Chuck" was born June 8, 1936 in Houston County, Alabama to the late Hoke Taft Shiver and Myrtis Shiver. He was preceded in death by his son Terry Shiver and his brother Wendell Shiver, sisters Betty Shiver and Peggy Shelly. He served in the Air Force for 24 years and retired in 1979 as a Senior Master Sergeant. He later went on to a career at Belk, retiring after 18 years. He was a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church. He is survived by his loving wife, Pearl Shiver of Fayetteville; four sons, Charles R. Shiver and his wife Christine of Fayetteville, Kalvin R. Shiver of Westminster, MD, Timothy W. Shiver and his wife Denise of Ashford, AL, Derek Z. Shiver and his wife Tessa of Pasadena, MD; 8 Grandchildren; brothers Jack Shiver of Webb, AL., Russell Shiver of Lake City, FL., and John Lynn of Burlington, WA. The Family will receive friends Wednesday, July 20 from 7-9 PM at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the Cape Fear Valley Heart Center or Cancer Center.
