US Army Staff Sergeant (Retired) Charles Alfred Waite, 85 of Fayetteville passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Charles was born in Richland, New York on April 16, 1932 to the late Lottie Wildrig and Alfred Waite. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Waite. Charles was a retired staff sergeant with the US Army after 20 years of service. He was a faithful member of Fayetteville Community Church.
"Charlie" is best known and loved throughout the community for his piano tuning company for over 30 years, and still made time to have fun playing in two bands with his closest friend, Wade H. Benson. Charlie played tenor saxophone for the Quasars and with the Bobby Wrenn band. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm in Jernigan-Warren Chapel. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey St. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Charles is survived by his sister, Arlene Martin of Oswego, New York; his surrogate family Sherrie and Joe Hauer of Sarasota, Florida and son Travis of Greensboro, NC. In lieu of flowers send memorial contributions to Community Home Care and Hospice.
