Obituary

Charles Hurley Wedge, 72, of Fayetteville, died on July 12, 2012. Chuck Wedge was born on October 18, 1939, in Mt. Home, Arkansas, to Charles Daniel and Benita (Huddleston) Wedge. As the son of an Army officer, he spent his youth in a variety of locations including Japan, Puerto Rico, Oklahoma, and Hawaii. Chuck served 20 years in the United States Army, where he completed 2 tours of Viet Nam and retired as an Aviation Officer in the rank of Major. Upon his retirement from the military in 1983, Chuck continued his career in Fayetteville as a Real Estate Broker, the Operations Manager of Fayetteville Air Service, Chief Flight Instructor, and finally as a FAA designated flight examiner until 1995. Chuck enjoyed creating his lovely water garden and Ballroom dancing. He was one of the founding members and first President of the Ballroom Dance Society of Fayetteville (BDSF) in 1993. He particularly enjoyed dancing the Argentine Tango and Lindy Hop with long-time partner, Kaye Christensen. He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Hess Wedge and Father Charles D. Wedge. He is survived by his mother Benita Lau of Honolulu, HI; brother deWayne of Redwood City, CA; sister Sylvia Schmidt of Honolulu, HI; Daughters Cathleen Espos of Oakland, CA, Amy Barone of Raleigh, NC; and Grandchildren Alexandra C. Espos, Christian X. Espos, and Sabrina Barone. Per his request no services will be held.Per his request no services will be held.
