Cheryll Jean
(Nash) Hunter
April 22, 1955 – July 26, 2024
Cheryll Jean Hunter departed this life peacefully at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center on July 26, 2024, at the age of 69. Cheryll affectionately known as Sherry, was born on April 22, 1955, in Bennettsville, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Richard "Gene" and Lila Nash of Fayetteville, North Carolina.
An alumnus of Fayetteville Technical Community College, Sherry graduated with a nursing degree in 1997. She valued education and continually sought to better herself and her community. Sherry devoted 27 years caring for patients as a Registered Nurse. Most of her nursing career was spent in the Rehab Brain Injury Unit at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where she was admired for her compassionate demeanor and tireless work ethic.
Sherry's faith was an integral part of her life, and she cherished her time with fellow believers at Manna Church. In her leisure time, Sherry enjoyed reading, decorating (and redecorating) her home, traveling and gardening. She especially loved the company of her family. She also had a great appreciation for music, puzzles, games, and movies.
Sherry's legacy of love and kindness will be carried on by her mother, Lila Nash; children, Ehren Kruse, Kevin (wife-Tracey) Kruse and daughter, Julie Hunter all of Fayetteville, North Carolina; sister, Patty (husband-Keith) Galt; nieces, Teresa (husband-Dave) Meroney and Jessica Galt all of Ponder, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Nash and is now reunited with him in eternal peace.
As we mourn the loss of such a beautiful and vibrant soul, we are comforted by the memories, stories, and laughter. Sherry will be remembered for the profound impact she had on everyone she met and especially the funny facial expressions she would give like the duck face.
A celebration of life for Sherry will be announced at a later date.
