Obituary

Clarence Milton Lane (Captain, US Army Retired), 88, passed away peacefully in his home Sunday, February 20, 2011. A World War II veteran who survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, he was promoted through the ranks to Sergeant Major and in 1950, was commissioned in the US Army Reserve, attaining the rank of captain before his retirement in 1960. He also retired from the US Postal Service in 1984 after 20 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Charlotte Dawson Lane, daughters, Pamela L. Foster and Lore L. Walden, and a son, Kimball O. Lane. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Barbara Shore, Angela Sutton, Dylan Lane, Kinsey Lane, and Lindsay and Sydney Walden; and six great grandchildren, Stephen, Lee, and Rachel Shore; Joshua and Melanie Sutton; and Rosemary Lane. He was preceded in death by a son Keith L. Lane and grandson, Patrick Lane. Clarence ("Micky") volunteered at Fort Bragg as a financial counselor, as a tutor with Urban Ministry
