Clarence Shelton Stewart, Sr, 91 of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Thursday, June 6, 2013. He served in the U.S. Army during the World War II Battle of The Bulge, receiving a purple heart. He was a longtime employee of the VA Hospital in Fayetteville and a longtime member of Praise Fellowship Church of God, Clarence was preceded in death by his father, Hector Stewart, mother, Ada Stewart, brother, Hoyt, sister, Wilhelmina, daughter, Marty King, The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 12:30pm to 2pm in Praise Fellowship Church of God, followed by a funeral service at 2pm in the church sanctuary with the Pastor Richard Williford officiating, burial will then follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street with Military Honors. Surviving family members include his Beloved wife of 66 years, Martha, son-in-law Larry King of White Lake, two sons Doc and wife Susie of Goldsboro, and Tim and wife Robin of Fayetteville. 7 Grandchildren, Lance King of Raleigh, Brandon King and wife Brandi of White Lake , Danny Stewart and wife Wendy of Goldsboro, Tony Stewart of Cary, Timmy Stewart and wife Mandi of Johnson City, Tenn, Nicole Stewart of Raleigh and Whitney Stewart of Fayetteville. 8 Great-Grandchildren, Colin and Taylor King ,Aaron and Morgan Stewart, Brandon McCullen, Britney Lyon, Jessica Graham and Taylor Stewart. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Praise Fellowship Church of God, 510 Adams St, Fayetteville, NC 28301.The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 12:30pm to 2pm in Praise Fellowship Church of God, followed by a funeral service at 2pm in the church sanctuary with the Pastor Richard Williford officiating, burial will then follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street with Military Honors.
