Mrs. Cleo Blackwell Warren, 92, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, in Bethesda Health Care. Mrs. Warren was born Dec. 29, 1916 in Hamer, S.C. She was a member of Hay Street United Methodist Church and the Lizzie Lamb Bible Class. Mrs. Warren was a home economics and biology teacher at Fayetteville High School (now Terry Sanford High School) until 1978. She was a teacher at Ash High School in Lake Waccamaw from 1941 to 1942. She also taught at Eastover Central and Newton Grove High School. Mrs. Warren was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Liberty Point Chapter of Fayetteville; a member of the Flora Macdonald Garden Club in Fayetteville; a member of the N.C. Retired Teachers Association; and a charter member of the Lafayette Society. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009, in Hay Street United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Harvin officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight, March 11, 2009, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. Mrs. Warren is survived by her children, Don P. Warren and wife Linda of Fayetteville, and Diane Warren Maynard and husband John of Apex; and four grandchildren, Donald M. Warren of Fayetteville, Tommy A. Warren of Fayetteville, J. Daniel Maynard of Apex and Jason L. Maynard of Apex. She was preceded in death by her husband, Percy A. Warren; her father, Harry Augustus Blackwell; her mother, Nora Blackwell Dowd; her sisters, Mabel Seddinger and Harrie Nicholson Shinaberry; and her brother, Dewey Blackwell.
