Obituary

Clifton O. Canipe, Sr, 88, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Thursday April 7, 2011. He was a retired Baptist Minister ordained in 1957, a member of Cape Fear Baptist Church on Indian Drive and was the pastor of Evergreen Baptist Church for 20 years. He was a Disabled Navy Veteran of World War II. He was an avid outdoorsman whose greatest love was golf, He was the first fire chief & founder of Cumberland Road Fire Department & retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He was preceded in death by his wife Beulah McQueen Canipe. The family will receive friends Friday April 8, 2011 from 6pm to8pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A celebration of his life will be officiated by Rev. Bruce Swett on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 11am in Cape Fear Baptist Church on Indian Drive in Fayetteville. Burial with military honors will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens on Raeford Road. He is survived by 4 sons, Clifton Canipe, Jr & wife Darlene of Conway, SC, Claude T. Canipe & wife Kathy of Clayton, Donald L. Canipe & wife Betty of Florida, Gerald W. Canipe & wife Elaine of Fayetteville; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Cape Fear Baptist Church 100 Indian Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28312.
