Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE - Clifton L. \\"Buddy\\" Pittman Jr., died Tuesday morning, June 23, 2009. He was born July 24, 1949, in Fairmont, the son of the late Clifton L. Pittman Sr. and Pauline Pittman. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rosa Jane Pittman Love. He is survived by his beloved first cousin, Betty Coville of Rowland; and nephew, David Love of Arizona. Known by all who loved him as Buddy Pittman, he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 to 1971 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. For more than 22 years, he worked for Beasley Broadcast Group radio station WKML as an account executive. He led a distinguished career marked by numerous awards and achievements and was highly regarded by clients and colleagues for his dedication and integrity. Buddy Pittman moved easily among a wide and diverse circle of friends and lived a life filled with broad passions. He loved music, hunting, golf and the outdoors. He was a Civil War enthusiast and avid reader. Buddy was a longtime supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and worked tirelessly on its behalf. He also quietly offered assistance to many others and was a true humanitarian. A visitation and memorial service will be held this Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville. The visitation will begin at 10 a.m. and the service will follow at 11 a.m. His final resting place will be in Fairmont. Donations may be made in his honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
