Obituary

US Army (Ret.) SFC Clifton M. Yarn, 87, crossed through the veil into his Savior's arms surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on October 3, 1936 in Atlanta, GA to the late George H. and Sadie Montgomery Yarn.

He leaves a legacy of faith, love and service. He exemplified these by his faithful service of leadership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served 22 distinguished years in the US Army mostly stationed at Fort Bragg, with the 82nd ABN and the 101st ABN, with tours in Korea and Vietnam. He graduated from Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service in 1975 and worked for many years with Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home and other local funeral homes. He was a master baker, executive chef, pilot, and enjoyed building and racing stock cars at Rockingham Speedway.

Known for his infectious smile, wonderful outlook and compassionate nature, he was referred to as Mr. Marvelous by family, friends and many others.

Cliff is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah Deloris Clark Yarn; six children, Cheri Wilcox of Arizona; Gary and Raye Yarn of Utah; Georgia Victoria Cherney of Fayetteville; Skip and Janet Yarn of Maryland; Catherine and Steve Larsen of Fuquay-Varina, NC; and David and Karina Yarn of Maryland; 27 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a great, great grandson; and his brother, George Yarn of Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Herbert and Sadie Catherine Yarn; his brother, David Victor Yarn; sister, Marjorie Catherine Shirley; and granddaughter, Rebecca Yarn.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, June 12, 2024, from 5 to 7 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be on Thursday, June 13, 2024, at 11 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 6420 Morganton Rd., Fayetteville, NC 28314.  Burial will follow at the Raeford Cemetery, US 401 Business, in Raeford, NC 28376
