Fayetteville- Retired US Army Master Sergeant Clyde L. Owen, 97, died Wednesday, July 20, 2016.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2016 at 12 noon in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, with military honors.

Clyde was retired from the US Army after 20 years, including service in World War II. Following the military, Clyde and his wife, Betty, owned and operated Dairy Queen on Bragg Blvd. for 14 years. He was also retired from Avis Car Rental.

Clyde was also a Mason from his home state of Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by his wife. He is survived by his two sons, John L. Owen and wife, Beverly, of Fayetteville and Tommy E. Owen and wife, Suzanne, of Hope Mills; and 6 grandchildren, Johnathan, Thomas, Jamie, Sara Elizabeth, Ashley and Austin.
