Obituary

Fayetteville, N.C. Retired First Sergeant Craig Spencer Morris, USMC, 50, died unexpectedly February 19, 2013. Born October 29, 1962, to Lewis P. Morris and Rosemary Thomas, he graduated from Adrian High School in 1983, and earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Homeland Security Counter Terrorism from the American Military University. He was a highly-decorated marine, serving 25 years during the Gulf wars and two tours in Iraq in the US Marine Corps, retiring in 2010. Morris trained in the USA and Okinawa, Japan in karate. He was a third degree black belt in Shotokan Karate and weapons with the Okinawa Karate Federation. He was also disciplined in Samurai sword fighting. At the time of his death, he was working as an independent contractor training special operation personnel for the military out of Fort Bragg. Morris was preceded in death by his father, of Cheboygan, Michigan, as well as his mother and stepfather, Lonnie Farber, both of Adrian, Michigan. Morris is survived by his four children of Williamsburg, Virginia, Jacqueline, Chloe, Tiffany and Quentin, along with their mother, Dana Morris. He will also be deeply missed by his brothers and sisters, Zane (Anna) Morris of Los Altos, California, Sharon (Louie) Rodriguez of Adrian, Michigan, Stephanie (John) Vetter of Adrian, Michigan, Dane Morris of Adrian, Michigan, LJ (Kelly) Farber of Adrian, Michigan, Carol Guyette of Anchorage, Alaska, along with many nieces and nephews. His family notes that Morris loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved motorcycles, planes, boats, parachuting, and animals, but he took special delight in his children. Humble and loyal, he always wore a grin, and had a story to tell.A private family service will be held on Friday, March 8, at 1 p.m., at Jernigan & Warren Funeral Home, in Fayetteville, NC. Public visitation will be held March 8th, at 7-9 p.m. with a public service on Saturday, March 9th at noon. A closing ceremony will be held at Freedom Biker Church. His final resting place will be at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested any donations to be made towards the Morris children's college fund. All donations can be mailed to PO BOX 7032, Williamsburg, VA 23188. Visitation will be held, Friday, March 8, 2013 from 7-9 p.m at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 9, 2013 at 12:00 noon at Jernigan-Warren Chapel, Burial will be held at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
