Dr. C.T. Daniel, 84, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, May 6, 2007, at the Rehab & Healthcare Center at Village Green.
Dr. Daniel was a leader throughout his life. He was Student Body President at Davidson College; Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology for the 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt, Germany; and Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology for the US Army Hospital (now Womack Army Medical Center) at Fort Bragg; President of the North Carolina Obstetrics and Gynecology Society; President of the South Central Obstetrics and Gynecology Society; Chief of Staff of Cape Fear Valley Medical Center; and Assistant Clinical Professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University Medical Center.
Upon retirement in 1990, Dr. Daniel continued to be active in the community. He was instrumental in the development of both the CARE Clinic and the Stanton Hospitality House and served on both boards. For his lifetime accomplishments, he was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award, one of the highest honors given by the Boy Scouts of America. He was an active member of Haymount United Methodist Church; and a member of the Fayetteville Kiwanis Club;
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at 2 pm at Haymount United Methodist Church with Dr. Brian Gentle officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Dr. Daniel was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia \\"Patty\\" Daniel Vickery.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Daniel of the home; a son, Dr. Richard Daniel and his wife, Libby, of Fayetteville; two daughters, Jacqueline P. Daniel of Hollywood, FL and Joan Daniel Heintz and her husband, Tom, of Bozeman, Montana; two grandchildren, Carrie Freeman Vickery and Ray Daniel Vickery; and a brother, James P. Daniel.
