Obituary

Mrs. Cynthia Gladden Tyndall, 66 passed away peacefully at her home Tuesday, April 22, 2014 surrounded by family. Cynthia fought a courageous battle after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in 1990. Cynthia remained faithful and strong even with her struggles with cancer and radiation. She was a 24 year brain tumor survivor which in itself is nothing short of a miracle from God. Cynthia remained a hard worker, wife, mother and eventually a wonderful grandmother. Her love and zest for life will forever remain in the hearts of all that loved her especially her grandchildren Tucker, Holden, Nathan and Camryn. Her love for God's simple gifts of salt air at Holden Beach has been passed down for generations to come. Cynthia graduated from Massey Hill High school where she was given several honors including perfect attendance for all 12 years of school. She attended Fayetteville Beauty College for two years and then went on to work with the Cumberland County Schools. She retired after 20 years as a teacher's assistant. Cynthia and Family were members of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. Cynthia is survived by her husband Harvey L. Tyndall of the home. Cynthia often stated to family and friends that she has loved Harvey since she was 13 years old. They were married 46 years and the love and devotion Harvey showed Cynthia in her final months, weeks and days was a testament of true love. She is also survived by a daughter, Angela Godwin and her husband Tim of Fayetteville, her son Dwayne Tyndall and his wife Lara of Wilmington, NC; two sisters Iberia Hallbauer (Bob) of Tyler, Texas and Ramona Pegram of Fayetteville, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Myrt Gladden. She is also survived by four grandchildren Tucker Godwin, Holden Godwin, Nathan Tyndall and Camryn Tyndall. The family would like express our sincerest love to Judy Phillips. Judy provided Cynthia with love and dignity for the past 2.5 years. Judy made a difficult process easier with her amazing care for Cynthia. We simply cannot find enough words to thank her. To the staff at Cape Fear Hospice - Shelly, Lesley, Tina and Chaplin John we would like to thank you for the tremendous care you provided not only to Cynthia, but the entire family. To Sue Young we are so grateful for your love to Cynthia. Sue you always made Cynthia smile when you fixed her hair. You understood how Cynthia always wanted her hair and make-up to be perfect. Cynthia and the family are so blessed to have our Banbury Drive family to walk this journey with us. You all have stood by us and we are forever grateful. Funeral services will be held Saturday April 26, 2014 at 1 pm in the chapel at Jernigan-Warren with Reverend John Cook and Larry Lancaster presiding.
