Cyrus Smith Preece, 90 of Fayetteville passed away on Monday, May 24, 2021.

Cyrus was born on January 16, 1931 in Buchanan, KY, the second to the youngest of 16 children born to the late C.W. Preece and Mary Smith Preece. He retired as a Sergeant Major from the U.S. Army Special Forces. He was life member of the Special Forces Association. Chapter 1-18

A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2021 at Lafayette Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends and family from 1:30 – 2:30 pm prior to the service at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Hannah L. McDaniel and 13 siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Inge Preece; children, Mary Preece, Bill Preece, Lisa Warner and husband Chris; sisters, Mary Bell McKee and Dorothy Mae Ritchie; grandchildren, Kevin Tromanhauser and wife Christy, Julie Sumners and husband Lee; great grandchildren, Natalie King, Dustin Tromanhauser and Jon Jon; great great granddaughter, Reagan and baby Annaleigh to arrive in August; and many nieces and nephews
