Rev David Elmer Miller, Sr, 99, of Fayetteville, NC passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Mildred D. Miller and a Daughter, Joye Lou Miller. He was a retired army veteran of World War II, upon retiring from the Army he attended Wake Forest University and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, He pastored Tabernacle Baptist Church in Rockfish, NC, Clement Baptist Church, Walstone Baptist Church, Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Cape Fear Baptist Church and Great Marsh Baptist Church in St. Pauls, NC. Upon retiring from the ministry he taught Sunday school until he was 96. The Family will receive friends from 7pm to 9pm tonight Friday December 5, 2008 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Saturday December 6, 2008 at 1:00pm at Walstone Baptist Church with the Rev. Wesley Wallis and Rev. Richard Edwards, Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. Rev. Miller is survived by 3 daughters, Sylvia M. Lewis and her Husband Frank of Angier, Nancy L. Miller of Fayetteville, and Gayle Miller of Fayetteville, A son, David E. Miller, Jr and Wife Brigitte of Fayetteville and a Sister Dorothy Ruth Phelps of Falls Lake, NC, 6 Grandchildren, Joye L. Mangum, Stephen D. Lewis, Jennifer Price, Alison, Miriam and Linda Grace Miller. And 12 Great-Grandchildren, Christopher,Stephen & Nicholas Mangum, Savannah & Jonah Lewis, Jordan & Cameron Pierro, Abigail Price, Emma & Isabella Hill and Alexandra Perry and John Thomas Trudeau.
