David Lee
Robbins
April 30, 1948 – August 23, 2025
David Lee Robbins, 77, of Fayetteville, passed away Saturday, August 23, 2025 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
David was born at home on April 30, 1948, in Totz, Kentucky to Rev. William Howard Robbins (a coal miner and minister) and Burdette Robbins (a seamstress at McAlpin's and a big part of her husband's ministry). He was one of seven brothers and 3 sisters. In birth order, Charles (wife Renee); Shirley Rapier (husband Andrew); William, better known as Bill; James (Jim, wife Nancy); Jack (wife Kathy); Sheila Rosemire (husband Jerry); Ruben; Lonnie (wife Betsy); and Karen Richardson (husband Mike), giving him numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
When Dave was 7 years old, the family moved to Ohio where he graduated from Glen Este High School (a trade school) in 1968. He was quickly drafted into the US Army where he served from 1968 to 1970. During his enlistment, he served two tours in Germany.
Upon returning to Ohio, he worked at Ruleman's and later at KMart Service Center on Beechmont Ave. in Cincinnati as a mechanic and gas station attendant, followed by Beechmont Ford where he worked as a mechanic for 10 years.
In 1974, he married Linda Flora. They had two daughters, Kristina Sue Robbins born in 1977 and Alisha Ann Robbins born in 1982. From these two daughters came 5 grandchildren. Kristina married Gary Ritter and they had a daughter named Cheyenne. Alisha married Brock Horton and they had four sons, Fabian, Drake, Kyrian, and Gannon Horton.
In 1983, Dave moved his family to Fayetteville where he worked with his brother, Jim at Robbins Auto Service for a short time before starting work at Kelly-Springfield Tire Company in the Truck Shop. He retired in 2012.
He happily spent his retirement piddling around the house and enjoying his family, especially his grandchildren.
A gathering of friends and family will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm and a brief time of memorial during the gathering.
