David E. Smith, 68, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2008, in Judson Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens. Visitation will take place from 7 to 9 tonight, May 31, 2008, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Mr. Smith served in the South Carolina National Guard. He was a member of Judson Baptist Church and was a supervisor with Fluor Daniel Construction Co. He was preceded in death by his father, David Ernest Smith; and mother, Margaret Evelyn Driggers. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Anna "Andy" Smith of the home; daughters, Davanne Brigman and husband Cecil of White Oak and Drewann Cochran and husband Chuck of Sanford; brothers, Don Smith of Turbeville, S.C., Jack Smith of Rock Hill, S.C., James Hugh Smith of Columbia, S.C., and Cecil Smith of Turbeville, S.C.; sisters, Sybil Gowdy of Hebron, S.C., Frankie Baxley of Turbeville, Myra Nesbitt of Turbeville and Edith Ater of McKees Rock, Pa.; and granddaughters, Erika and Leeann Brigman.
