David Quincy Williams Sr., 89, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, in Bethesda Healthcare Facility in Eastover.
Mr. Williams was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a former deacon and elder at First Presbyterian Church and a member of Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a Shriner and a Mason. He retired as chief zoning officer with Cumberland County. He was a former commanding officer with the Fayetteville Independent Light Infantry.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dorothy Dove Williams. He is survived by a son, David Q. Williams Jr. and wife Kay of Fayetteville; a daughter, Diane W. Fussell and husband Larry of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Candy Phipps, Trei Williams, Garland Fussell and Traci Harrell; and seven great-grandchildren, Brantley, Allison, Kaitlin, Emily, Wade, Sydney and Molly.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, in First Presbyterian Church chapel with Dr. John Wright Coker Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday in the church parlor.
