Obituary

FAYETTEVILLE - David \\"Grey Wolf\\" Batton, 52, of Fayetteville, crossed over on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, in Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. Mr. Batton served in the Army for 12 years. He was a scout master for Troop No. 746 at Cumberland United Methodist Church and was a member of the Southern Service Regional Training Team of the Occoneechee Council Boy Scouts of America. Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009, in Hope Mills United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ron Gurganus and the Rev. John Lancaster officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church. Mr. Batton's life is celebrated by his wife, Paula Batton of the home; sons, Christopher Batton of Fayetteville, and David Richards and wife Faye of Monroe; daughters, Alexis Batton of Fayetteville and Carolyn Richards of Phoenix; three sisters, Lola Davidson, Barbara Baker, and Sandra Lakeman and husband Robert, all of Wilmington; and brother, Rick Darkwolfe and wife Brookie of Connecticut. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
