Mrs. Della Mae Culbreth Matthews, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 18, 2013 at Village Green Nursing Home. She was born May 12, 1928, in Fayetteville, North Carolina to the late Daniel Maxwell Culbreth and Julia Sessoms Culbreth.
Mrs. Matthews was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Ruby Culbreth, Eunice Raynor and Elma Truelove, brothers, Dossie, David, Sessoms, Durwood and Olive Culbreth.
She is survived by daughters, Carla Stone of Wade, Julia Godwin and husband Charles of Eastover and Sharon Moore of Eastover. Grandchildren, Scott Stone of Wade, Rhonda Freeman and husband Tony of Wade, Christopher Godwin and wife Donna of Stedman, Melissa Dudley and husband Gary of Fayetteville, Jennifer Walters and husband Del of Stedman, Jessica Hernandez-Ramirez and husband Manuel of Eastover and Jesse Thomas Moore II and wife Shanon of Coats. She is survived by twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by one brother, Clifton Culbreth of Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 21, 2013 at 11:00 at Lebanon Baptist Church on Beard Road in Eastover with Dr. John Campbell and Rev. Gary Strickland officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday night January 20, 2013 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
The family would like to express a very heart filled "Thank You" to the entire staff of Village Green for the care, love and concern that was expressed to our mother during her stay. She always said that was the best facility in Fayetteville and she loved each and everyone that she came into contact with each day.
