Obituary

Ruth Jobson, 103, formerly of North Carolina, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2017, in Shawnee, Oklahoma

Funeral services were held in Shawnee, Ok.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, North Carolina.

Ruth was born May 18, 1914, in Charleston, West Virginia, to Vernon Clyde Cutright and Malinda Jane (Howard) Cutright.

She attended high school in Boston before graduating from Moundsville High School in Moundsville, West Virginia. She later graduated from West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, West Virginia, with a bachelor's degree in music and a minor in English. She married William Lee Jobson Jr. on Jan. 1, 1947, in Portsmouth, Virginia. Together they felt strongly about adoption and adopted Vernon at age 6 months, then Malinda at age 3 when Ruth was in her early 40s.

She had many careers, including being a bank teller, homemaker, teacher, and military chaplain's wife, all of which she enjoyed. She also was a member of the Ft. Bragg Officer Wife's Club, Fayetteville Art Society, and Highland Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed art, was an artist herself, and was an accomplished singer. She was able to live independently much longer than most because of the help of her friends and family in Fayetteville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and two sisters. She is survived by two children: Malinda Frangione and husband Ron of Yukon and Vernon Jobson and wife Chris of Shawnee; five grandchildren: Jason Jobson and wife Christina of Shawnee, Corey Jobson of Shawnee, Blake Jobson and wife Jennifer of New Castle, Michael Frangione and fiancé Stephanie Johnson of Moore, and Marie Frangione of Yukon; eight great-grandchildren: Khalil, Will, Kiandra, Maddox, Ava, Addison, Gavin, and Scarlett; and many friends and extended family members.
