Obituary

Delno Thomas Tindale, 86, of Fayetteville, NC, passed away February 10, 2025.

Born in Detroit, MI, in 1938, Delno is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mary Jean Tindale, 3 daughters, Michele Averett (Michael), Andrea Tindale, and Lynne Brown; 5 grandchildren, Ryann Henriquez (Andre), Rachael Sutton (Daniel), Jeffrey Drake, Miranda Brown, and Nicholas Drake, and 6 great grandchildren Emma, Benjamin, Andre, Joshua, August and Jameson; his sisters, Joy Bracey and Frances Angell, and many nephews and nieces. Delno was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Tindale and Rita Sheppard, brother Daryl Tindale, and sister Vickie Rae Goodman.

Delno spent many early summers and his teenage years in Clearwater, Florida with his grandparents. He was a member of the swim team at Southwestern High School in Detroit, where he graduated in 1956. Soon after graduation, he joined the US Air Force. He also attended Yale University Graduate Institute in 1957, and was a member of the K-53 Swim Team at Johnson Air Base, Japan in 1958. Delno was commissioned as a Chief Warrant Officer in the US Army in 1970 and retired in 1976. A Veteran of the Vietnam War, Delno traveled throughout Europe, Asia and North America. A member of the 82d Airborne Division, Delno earned his Jumpmaster status and made many successful parachute jumps at Fort Bragg, NC.

After retiring from the US Army in 1976, Delno sold real estate and worked as a technical writer. Many family friends and clients remember "Mr. T.," during his nearly 30 years as the owner/operator of J.O.B.S. Of Fayetteville and Results Resume Services.  His quiet and steady demeanor drew you in making you feel welcome. He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and in his retirement spent his spare time researching topics of interest, reading books and providing the answers to the toughest and rarest crossword clues.

His greatest joys were his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Delno loved spending time with them, reading stories, listening to their tales of adventures, and showing them tricks only a grandpa knows. His love for his family was deep, true and constant.
