Delton S. Dixon, 87, of Fayetteville, died Wednesday, October 31, 2007, in his residence.
He was born June 14, 1920, in Monoville, Tenn. He was a veteran of the US Army, honorably discharged August 26, 1945, after serving in World War II. He was a recipient of the American Defense Service Medal, EAMET Campaign Medal with five bronze service stars, and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Mr. Dixon retired from Bryan Pontiac-Cadillac after 40 years of service. He was the employee with the most years of service ever in the company.
He loved working in his yard, but most importantly, he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillian Brisson Dixon; three daughters, Shirley Arndt and husband Larry of Claremont, Janice Nance and husband Robert of Fayetteville, and Patty Wiggins and husband Robert of Raeford; five grandchildren, Kim Vazquez, Chris Nance, Brian Wiggins, Kelly Bullard and Heather Tetrault; five great-grandchildren, Ashtin Dicochea, Kiara Nance, Trever Wiggins, Aaron Vazquez, and Darren Tetrault; brothers, Jimmy, Glenn, Robbie and Shorty; and a sister, Jean.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ottie G. Dixon and Nettie Wilkerson Dixon; brothers, Prentis, Donald, and Jack; and a sister, Thelma.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1 pm Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, in the Jernigan Warren Chapel. The burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in St. Pauls.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Saturday, from 12 to 1 pm, at the funeral home.
