US Army Retired MSG Denver W. "Bill" Morris, 89, of Raeford, died Friday, May 6, 2011, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. Mr. Morris was retired from the Army after 31 years of service during which time he fought in Vietnam, Korea, and served in the South Pacific during WWII. Funeral services will be held graveside Thursday, May 12, 2011, at 10 am in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery with military honors. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Joyce Morris; two sons, Bill Morris and Jerry Morris; and a grandson, Scott Clark. He is survived by 3 daughters, Elizabeth Morris of Raeford, Naomia Barker and husband, Charles of Williamsburg, Va, and Marilyn Clark and husband, Darry of Leland, NC; 2 sons, John Morris and wife, Connie of Atlanta and Douglas Morris and wife, Tammy, of Wilkesboro; brother, Sebert J. Morris of West Virginia; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Jernigan Warren Funeral Home.
