Dolly
Rivera
September 4, 1924 – December 6, 2015
Dolly H. Rivera, 91, of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015. Dolly was born September 4, 1924 in White Oak, Missouri.
She was twice widowed, from Jewel Corney Reid and Jose Oscar Rivera; she was also preceded in death by her sons, Eddie J. Reid and Jimmy D. Reid; and a granddaughter, Loretta Jean Reid.
She is survived by her son, Larry E. Reid and wife Martha, of Ocala, FL; daughter-in-law, Noval Reid of Fayetteville; six grandchildren, Keith and Jimmy Reid, Benjamin and Michael Reid, and Joe and Eddie Grzelakowski; and six great-grandchildren.
Dolly grew up in Southeast Missouri, where she and her husband raised their three sons. She and her sons eventually moved to Fayetteville, NC where she married Jose.
Dolly was a loving, strong-willed, witty, and faithful person. She loved spending time dancing, reading, and quilting.
When she had her home on Buffalo Lake she enjoyed watching her grandkids water-ski, cooking out, playing canasta, and simply spending time with her family and friends.
Dolly was a member of the Church of the Open Door. She was also a member of the Shrinettes.
While she will be dearly missed, her family is comforted in the fact that she is now with her Heavenly Father and those in her family that have preceded her.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at 11 am in Jernigan-Warren Chapel with Rev. Jeffrey Sholar presiding. The burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park.
