Donald Gielen, 72, of Port Orange FL, formerly Bath, NY, & Fayetteville, NC died Wednesday, January 27, 2016.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at 1 pm in Jernigan Warren Chapel. The burial will follow at 2 pm in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake with military honors.

Donald was retired Air Force, a Vietnam Veteran, and had worked at the Bath V.A. and Elmira Outpatient V.A.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Genevieve Gielen; a brother, Dale Gielen; and beloved wife, Virginia Gielen.

Donald is survived by his children, Denise (Derrick) Fullick of Perth Australia; Brenda (Thomas) Crabb of Wellsville, NY, Leslie (Robert) Stewart of Goodyear AZ, and Ginny (David) Carpenter of Port Orange FL.; grandchildren, Aaron, Daniel, and Michael Fullick, Darren and Deann Evens, (U.S. Army pvt.) Robert (Dusty), Ryan and Rakelle Stewart, Collynns and Cole Carpenter; a great-grandchild, Grace Fullick; nephews, Michael (Emalee) Gielen and Patrick (Rene); nieces, Elissa Gielen, Holly (Michael) Royce; and many cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 4 to 6 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, Don has requested you give to a charity of your choice such as the V Foundation or Fisher house. The family asks that you perform a random act of kindness in Don's honor out of appreciation for all he did for others.
