Donna Darby Guy, a wife, a mother, a daughter, an aunt, a grandmother and a friend passed from this world from the familiar surroundings of her home to her eternal peace and reward on Thursday, May 19, 2016. After some time infirmed in her home, Donna departed peacefully surrounded by her family and other loved ones.
God's Heaven will rejoice as Donna enters her eternal home where she will wait for others she loved as she is showered with perpetual tranquility.
A service of celebration of Donna's life and resurrection will be held at Village Baptist Church, 926 McPherson Church road , Fayetteville, NC at 1pm on Tuesday, May 24th, 2016 with burial to follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. Officiating minister will be Dr. Bruce Martin.
The family will receive friends from 12pm to 1pm one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Donna was born March 17, 1946 in Fayetteville, NC. She was predeceased by her father, James O'Neal Darby. She is survived by her mother, Lillian Spears Darby and Philip Marsh Guy, Sr., her husband of 52 years who provided untiring daily care for his wife during her confinement to their home.
Donna is also survived by her sons, Philip Marsh Guy II and wife Lisa of Wilmington, and grandson, Daniel Marsh Guy; Darby O'Neal Guy and wife Rebecca of Louisburg and granddaughter, Kennedy Guy.
Other survivors include her sister, Marsha Murray of Fayetteville, nieces, Meredith Murray of Fayetteville and Melody Nessell and husband Anthony of Rockingham; great nephew Josh Nessell and great niece Sarah Nessell and uncle, James Spears of Fayetteville.
Donna was a lifelong resident of Cumberland County and was a graduate of Seventy-first High School. She was a faithful member of Village Baptist Church.
Donna operated her own beauty shop. She was a retired teacher's assistant from Montclair Elementary School.
The family suggests in lieu of floral arrangements that memorial contributions be made to Village Baptist Church Building Fund.
