Mrs. Doretha H. Strickland, 77, of Fayetteville, died Monday, March 12, 2007, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Strickland was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a loyal Christian woman who believed in reading her bible daily. She never met a person she did not leave as a friend. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2007, at 3 pm in Jernigan Warren Chapel with the Revs. Al Bean, Reggie Edwards, and Brooks Grimes Jr. officiating. The burial will follow at Cross Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Strickland is survived by her husband, James A. Strickland of the home; sons, Ricky Strickland and wife, Rose, of Fayetteville and Don Strickland and wife, Wanda, of Vass; brother, Raymond Hair of Cape Carteret; sisters, Sybil McCormick of Eastover and Madeline Grimes of Fayetteville; and grandchildren, Anthony, David, Jonathan, Emily, Rachel, and Joshua Strickland. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, March 13, 2007, from 7 to 9 pm at the funeral home.
