Doris Wood Beasley, 80, of Fayetteville, NC passed peacefully from her earthly life following a brief illness on Monday, November 21, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Doris was born September 1, 1936 to the late Benjamin J. Wood and Lattie M. Wood. She graduated from Meadow High School, Benson, NC, in 1954 and married her high school sweetheart, John Paschal (J.P.) Beasley, on January 14, 1956. She was preceded in death by siblings, Lena Lee, Gertrude Beasley, Gertie Lewis, Myrtie Strickland, Marvin Wood, Felton Wood, Dalton Wood, Leonard Wood, and Herbert Wood. She is survived by sisters, Ernesdeen Blackmon, Margine Dixon, Catherine Wood and Elizabeth Johnson. Doris is survived by her husband of 60 years, John P. Beasley, and their children, J. Kevin Beasley and wife Teresa, Karen Beasley Raliski and husband Ed, and Jody K. Beasley and wife Cindy. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother of six children, and great grandmother of two children. In addition to being a dedicated homemaker, she was a retired bank teller at First Citizens Bank and a long-time member of the Fayetteville Advent Christian Church. She excelled in the design and display of seasonal decorations throughout the year, especially for holidays. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 26 at 1 pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville with a funeral service following at 2 pm. Entombment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park Mausoleum.
