Mrs. Doris Dowdy Cox, 75 of Fayetteville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at home. Mrs. Cox was born Aug 19, 1934 in Bennettsville, S.C. to Lucian & Marie Dowdy. She was a devoted wife, loving mother & friend. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Muggs and Bill Dowdy and a sister, Hazel Frye. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Sunday May 9, 2010 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, a graveside service will be held Monday May 10, 2010 at 2:00pm at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 Years, Wainwright F. Cox "Button" of the home, four children, Son-Wayne Cox of Folsom, La, Daughter-Dawn Cox of McColl, SC, Daughter-Cindy Torok (Elek) of Hope Mills & Son-Dean Cox of Parkton, NC, 2 brothers, J.W. & Luke Dowdy Jr both of Bennettsville, SC, Lots of Nieces & Nephews and friends.
