Linden

Doris Bartley Crawford, 96, of Linden, passed away peacefully at Bethesda Health Care on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

Doris was born in Dryden, Virginia, to the late Nicklas Ray Bartley and Virgie Napier Bartley. She was the fourth youngest of eleven children. A devoted military wife, Doris cherished her family above all else, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She found great joy in cooking and gathering her loved ones around the table on Sundays, creating treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come.

A talented and crafty woman, Doris enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She also loved traveling up north and was always delighted to return to her family homestead in Virginia, a place that held a special place in her heart. Her love for family, her dedication to those she loved, and the warmth she brought to every gathering will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Frank D. Crawford; her son, Danny Crawford; and her siblings, Gilmer Bartley, Ruth Bledsole, Helen Kirk, Ethel White, Joan Wilson, Conrad Bartley, Garland Bartley, and Marvin Bartley.

She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory, including her daughters, Debbie Todd and Darlyn Hargis and her husband, David; her son, Del Crawford and his wife, Patsy; her grandchildren, Travis Todd and his wife, Ivory; Jeremy Crawford and his wife, Ashley; Zachery Crawford; Adam Crawford and his wife, Vanessa; Meg Hargis Boyatt and her husband, Christian; and Sarah Hargis Luna and her husband, Daniel; and her great-grandchildren, Remus Todd, Ella Todd, Jensen Todd, Violet Crawford, Sawyer Crawford, and William Luna.

Doris's life was one of love, devotion, and family. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created, the traditions she passed down, and the love she shared will remain a lasting legacy for those she leaves behind.
