Obituary

Doris Altman Norris passed peacefully Tuesday morning March 3, 2015. She was born October 27, 1930, the daughter of the late Polie Gardner and Bessie Whittenton Altman. She is also preceded in death by her husband Hugh Shelton Norris, Sr., a sister Sara Neighbors Young, and two brothers Gardner Howard Altman, Sr. and James Taylor Neighbors, Sr. She was a sales manager with the Tupperware Corporation and after retiring enjoyed her new role as "Mama" to her five grandchildren.

She was a loving, caring wife, mother, and grandmother and was known by her church friends and family as an unconditional loving and giving woman of God. As a member of Calvary Assembly of God (now Epicenter Church) from 1964 – 1996, she served as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and in various ministries of the church. (Romans 12:10, 13) She was later a member of Northwood Temple Church and enjoyed her involvement with the choir and in senior ministries.

The funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Friday March 6, 2015 at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Mark Knight and the Reverend John Hedgepeth officiating. Burial will follow in Devotional Gardens Cemetery at 3 p.m. in Dunn, NC.

She is survived by her daughter, Shelley Norris Praschan, and husband, Kenneth, of Fayetteville and her son, Hugh Shelton Norris, Jr. and wife, Ramona, of Dunn; five grandchildren, Lindsay Praschan Lee and husband, Allen, of Fayetteville, Laura Praschan Bullock and husband, Ryan, of Jacksonville, Florida, Kenneth Charles (Kacey) Praschan, Jr. of Fayetteville, Madelyn Shel Norris of Dunn, and Kyle Shelton Praschan of Fayetteville; and two expectant great grandchildren; a niece, Caroline Neighbors Hawley of Dunn; two nephews, Gardner Howard Altman, Jr. of White Oak and James Taylor Neighbors, Jr. of Americus, Georgia; and a special caring friend, Vicki Seadore of Sunset Harbor, North Carolina.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 6, 2015 from 11 am – 12 noon at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Epicenter Dream Center or Northwood Temple Church.
