Doris Jean Wood Parsons, 96, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 She was born in Hoke County, NC and worked many years at Sunnyside Floral Nursery and retired from Black & Decker. She was a volunteer at Cape Fear Valley Hospital for over 20 years after her retirement.

Doris Jean was a very active member of Camp Ground United Methodist Church until her health no longer allowed her to participate in the church she so loved. People in the church always looked forward to her fresh apple and coconut cakes at the church bazaars. She loved traveling with friends and church members to many faraway locales.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Albert B. Parsons, a son, William Alexander Parsons a sister, Grace Wood Harris. and a brother, C. Thomas Wood, Sr and her parents, William E. Wood and Bertha Ray Wood.

She is survived by her sons, Larry Wayne & wife Betty-Neill, and Mark & wife Kim, both of Fayetteville, and two grandsons, Neill Wayne Parsons of Washington, NC and Alex S. Parsons of Fayetteville.

Special thanks to Home Instead, The Crossings at Wayside, and a special friend and caregiver, Gaynell Johnson. The family will receive friends from 12pm to 2pm on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Camp Ground United Methodist Church with the funeral starting at 2pm in the church sanctuary with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
