Obituary

Mrs. Dorothy Jean Bredell, 79, of Fayetteville, passed away September 5, 2013, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Dorothy was born July 24, 1934, in Holly Springs, NC to the late Annie Lee Allen. She was then raised by her Aunt Collen Vandergriff and Grandfather P. Young both of Angier, NC who preceded Dorothy to the grave. Dorothy is survived by her husband, Ronald Bredell; two daughters, Cathy Ann Allen of Baltimore Md. and Denise Bredell- Hill and husband Terry of Fayetteville NC; sons, Michael Bredell and wife Mary of Fayetteville NC, Gregory Bredell of Los Angeles CA, Kenneth Bredell and wife Debbie of Wilson NC, Andre Bredell and wife Lavilla of Stone Mtn. GA, Marc Bredell and wife Deanna of Philadelphia, PA, and Billy Williams of Duluth GA; three brothers, Andrew Allen, Thomas Allen and William Allen of Raleigh NC; a sister, Rev. Eloise Fuller of Apex; 28 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was a dedicated wife and mother and devoted herself to her children. While a member of Military Assistance Advisory Group (MAAG) Wives Club in The Republic of China, Taiwan, she was instrumental in supporting the orphanages throughout Taiwan. Working with other wives and Mrs. Chiang Kai-shek she helped save the lives of many Amer-Asians children that would have been sold into slavery or killed. As a special education assistant she was recognized for her contributions to the Dependent Youth Activities (DYA). She was a loving person who dedicated her life to her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at 11:30 am in Jernigan Warren Chapel. The burial will follow at 2 pm in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake.
