Dorothy Howard Merritt, 86, of Hope Mills Passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2018.

She graduated from East Carolina University and taught high school and elementary school in Wake and Cumberland counties for over 28 years.

Born on 9 November 1931 to Otis W. and Cora Mae Howard. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lewis B. Merritt, brother Earl Howard, sisters Lexi James and Mary Johnson.

She is survived by daughters Karen M Brady, Jennifer Wynn (Craig) Nichols of home, Grandchilren Meredith Brady (Travis) Dodge of Monroe, NC; Evan Brady of Hope Mills and Great Grand daughter Olivia Paige Dodge.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 10am to 11am at Hope Mills Methodist Church with the funeral service following at 11am, burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street.
