FAYETTEVILLE - Mrs. Dorothy Ruth Smith, 85, of Fayetteville, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Mrs. Smith was a former employee of the Fort Bragg Credit Union and the Pope Air Force Base Credit Union. She was a member of Main Post chapel on Fort Bragg. She was preceded in death by her sister, Juanelle Philips and her brother-in-law, William Phillips. Funeral services will be held at 2p.m. Wednesday in Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home chapel in Fayetteville. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, James W. Smith Sr., a retired U.S. Army chief warrant officer 4, of the home; a son, James W. Smith Jr., and his wife, Jane, of Gray, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Kevin Smith and his wife, Kelly, Aaron Rowley and his wife, Meg, and Christy Miller and her husband, Mickey; and six great-grandchildren, Abigail Smith, Carter Smith, Emily Smith, Grayson Rowley, Sydney Miller and Brady Miller.
