Duvell Jennings Hopper, 86 of Fayetteville passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017.He was preceded in death by his parents, George Calvin Hopper and Eliza Harris Hopper and a sister, Christine H. Reeves.
Mr. Hopper was a prominent farmer in Cumberland County for all his life. He was able to serve as a mentor to many young men who worked for him. He was a lifelong member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Class Secretary and Chief Usher for many years. He loved serving as a Royal Ambassador leader as well as a baseball coach for the church boy's team. He and his wife enjoyed traveling and made two trips around the U.S. and numerous other trips with his family. Funeral services Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife, Jolene C. Hopper of the home; daughters, Cynthia H. Scott (George), Janice H. Southard (Daniel), and a son Steve D. Hopper (Ydonna); sister, Etheline H. Ragland; grandchildren, Nathan Scott (Amber), Allyson Scott, Megan H. Hall (Justin) and Morgan Hopper; great-grandchildren, Mckenna and Piper Scott. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Fayetteville Animal Proctective Society 3927 Bragg Blvd. Fayetteville, N.C. 28303.
