Mr. Erasmus Bailey Norton, of Fayetteville passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014. A celebration of life ceremony for Bailey will be held Sunday March 9, 2014 at 3:00 pm at Northwood Temple Church with Rev. John Hedgepeth presiding. There will be no graveside service. Bailey was born September 8, 1939, in Cumberland County to the late Duncan James Norton and Beulah Jane Culbreth Norton. He was the tenth of 11 children, preceded in death by 8 of his siblings and his son-in-law Jason Charles Powell. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Annie Jo Barfield Norton; 5 daughters-Joy Zemet and husband John of Pittsburgh, PA, Julie Sealey and husband Gary of Saint Pauls, NC, Janet Falkner and husband Brian of Menlo Park, CA, Jennifer Powell of Aiken SC, Jill Leopard and husband Gordon of Aiken, SC; sisters Helen Norton Finch of Fayetteville, NC, and Molly Norton Seyler of Geary Oklahoma; brother William D. Norton of Fayetteville, NC; 13 grandchildren Joshua, Jacob and Jeremiah Zemet, Jarrod and Tyler Sealey, Jackson, Samuel and Benjamin Falkner, Chance, Jeorgia and Jonathan Charles "JC" Powell, Annaleigh and Abigail Leopard; additionally, a great friend Jeff Higgins, who is embraced as a son and brother and his children Lauren and Evan Higgins of Fayetteville. In honor of Bailey's heartfelt concern for helping children and the disadvantaged, the family requests memorial donations be made as an alternative to flowers at www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/t844/bailey-norton-memorial-fund . Contributions from this fund will be made to charities that Bailey was passionate about; St. Jude Children's Hospital, various community ministries and Missions of Northwood Temple. Family members will receive visitors at Jernigan & Warren Funeral home on Saturday March 8, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2014, at 3pm in Northwood Temple with Rev. John Hedgepeth presiding. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 to 8 pm at Jernigan Warren.
