Obituary

HOPE MILLS - Earl V. McLean, 82, of 3262 Legion Road, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010. He was surrounded by his family at his daughter's home. Mr. McLean was a lifelong and faithful member of Massey Hill Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War, in 1950 and 1951. He earned the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Service Star. He was the local business owner of McLean Tire and Auto for 35 years. He served with the Gideon Ministry for many years. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at Massey Hill Baptist Church, with Pastor Tim Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today, Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, in at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Mr. McLean is survived by his son, Ronald E. McLean and wife Gilda of Autryville; and a daughter, Sandra L. Phillips and husband Donald \\"Pete\\" Phillips of Fayetteville. A doting grandfather, Mr. McLean had one grandson, Michael A. McLean of Autryville, and two granddaughters, Trisha P. Castillo of Hope Mills and Christy A. Phillips of Fayetteville. He had three great-grandchildren, Caylee, Conner and Courtney Castillo. Mr. McLean was preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Mrs. Vera P. McLean; his brothers, James Bolton, Boyd and Stewart McLean; and his mother, Pearl Williams.
