Mrs. Earline Poole Riddle, 92, of Fayetteville, died Friday, July 11, 2008, in Carolina Inn.
Mrs. Riddle was a 1939 graduate of Highsmith-Rainey Nursing School. She retired after 35 years of employment as a registered nurse at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville.
Mrs. Riddle was a longtime active member of Hay Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Lizzie Lamb Sunday school class. She was a member and former president of the Pilot Club of Fayetteville. Mrs. Riddle volunteered her services as a nurse at the Care Clinic and for the N.C. Methodist Conference at Methodist University. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, 2008, in Hay Street United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Harvin officiating. Burial will be in Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight, Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home in Fayetteville; and at other times at the homes of her daughters, Betty Dudley and Martha Scott.
Mrs. Riddle was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Eldon D. Riddle; sister, Mary Lou Luther; and brother, Everett K. Poole.
She is survived by daughters, Betty Riddle Dudley and husband Robert of Fayetteville, and Martha Riddle Scott and husband Berry of Fayetteville; four grandchildren, Debbie Skarzenski, Sandra Roush, Tammy Holcomb and Randy Scott; and a great-grandson, Douglas Skarzenski.
