Obituary

Mrs. Edeltrud \\"Trudi\\" Tornblom, 68, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, January 2, 2007 in Carrol S. Roberson Hospice Center after a long illness. Mrs. Tornblom was born in Trier, Germany on September 11, 1938 to the late Else and Peter Pfeifer. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Erik Tornblom, and brother, Heribert. Trudi worked at John Allen Shoes for many years but her real life's work was helping others. Whether it was helping someone find a job, a place to live, or a friend, she always thought of others. An entire family of refugees from Kosovo was no challenge for Trudi; she just talked, advised and pushed to help them make a new life in this great country. She was a strong supporter of the American Heart Walk and The Nazareth House for homeless families. She counseled many through the Compassionate Friends and Victims Assistance organizations, and the list can go on. Survivors include her loving husband of 46 years, Richard; daughters, Pamela White of Fayetteville, Barbara Tornblom of Columbia, MD; twin granddaughters, Veronika Olsen and Jessika Olsen; brothers, Erhardt and Rainer; and sisters, Hildegard, Ursula, Beate and Roswitha. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church at 11 am on Friday, January 5, 2007. In lieu of flowers, Trudi requested donations be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church Capital Campaign for the new church (2844 Village Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28304).
