Mrs. Edna Sumrell Trussell Ellis, 92, of Rolling Ridge Assisted Living in Newton Grove, and formerly of Stedman, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017.

She was born January 25, 1924 in Kinston, to the late Thomas Edward Sumrell, Jr.. and Annie Eliza Bonham Sumrell. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Jernigan-Warren Chapel with burial to follow at Lafayette Memorial Park on Ramsey Street. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert H. Sumrell and Thomas E. Sumrell and a sister, Mildred Rose Sumrell Savoy. Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Bobbie N. Ellis; daughter, Mary Trussell Tillery and husband Kenneth, granddaughter, Debbi Tillery and great granddaughters, Jessica Barnes and Jayme Boswell all of Alabama; niece, Bobbie Sumrell Allen and husband Elwood; nephew, Ronald Sumrell and great niece Christy Allen.
