He was a retired Air Force Lt. Col & a veteran of Vietnam, Grenada & Cambodia. The family will receive friends Saturday March 19, 2011 from 2pm to 3pm at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home,followed by a service in the funeral home chapel at 3pm with Dr Randal Bremer & Rev. Ben West Officiating, burial with full military honors will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens on Raeford Road. Survived by a son, Noel Avent & wife Beth of Raleigh, Daughter Dawn of Fayetteville, a brother, Bob of Wilmington and two grandchildren, Victoria & Kinsey Avent
