Mr. Edward Warren O'Neal, 82, of Fayetteville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006. He was born Aug. 2, 1924, in Hamlet.
Ed was a veteran of the Army Air Corps, serving in the Phillipines in World War II. Ed and his wife, Eldred, were the original owners of the Country Kitchen Seafood Restaurant and enjoyed meeting and serving their customers for many years. He was employed by Canada Dry Bottling Co. before opening the restaurant and was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eldred Randolph O'Neal; his parents, P.C. and Edna O'Neal; and a brother, Robert L. O'Neal.
He is survived by: Son, Robert E. O'Neal; daughters, Cheryl O'Neal Long and Beth O'Neal Scroggins; grandchildren, Tracy and Matthew Driggers, Brian and Bradley O'Neal, Lauren Scroggins-Kuhns, Cristopher Scroggins and Johnny Long; great-grandchildren, Cory Driggers and Cristiana Scroggins; a special brother-in-law, Stanley Randolph, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, in Jernigan Warren Chapel with the Rev. Gary Strickland officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
