Edward R. "Buddy" Phillips, 75, of Hope Mills, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 19, 2014, in his home surrounded by his family.
Buddy, otherwise known as "Dog", was retired from PWC, after 36 years of service, as Superintendent of the Line Dept. He also served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. Most importantly, he was a loving father, husband and grandfather; and he dearly loved Holden Beach and was an avid fisherman.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at 2 pm in Jernigan Warren Chapel with Rev. Cyndi McClendon and Rev. Wayne Chandler presiding. The burial will follow at LaFayette Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 to 2 pm at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Joanne Matthews Phillips of the home; sons, Edward R. Phillips, Jr. and wife Kelli of Hope Mills and Kevin Andrew Phillips and wife Kelly of Hope Mills; 4 grandchildren, Kayla Renee Phillips, Taylor Nicole Phillips, Kyle Bryant Phillips and Garrett Ray Phillips; brothers, Robert Phillips of Hope Mills, and Jerry Phillips of Fayetteville; sisters, Faye Autry and Linda Young of Hope Mills, and Jeanette Brown of Fayetteville; sister-in-law, Martha M. Douglas of Hope Mills; and lots of nieces and nephews.
