Mr. Edward Albert Wood, 87, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center. Edward was born September 30, 1924, in New York City to the late Bernardo and Carmela Wood. His youth was spent living in Mexico. He served as a corpsman with the US Navy during WWII. Afterwards, he worked for the State Department and Department of Defense for a combined 40 years. He lived most of his life in the Panama Canal Zone, Miami, and Fayetteville. A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 9, 2012, at 4 pm in Jernigan Warren Chapel with Father Jack Kelly presiding. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Mr. Wood is survived by his two sons, Michael R. Wood and wife Renee of Lillington and Edward A. Wood, Jr. of Spain; and three grandchildren, Daniel Wood, Donna Wood, and Kaitlyn Youmans. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 8300 Health Park Suite #10, Raleigh NC 27615.
