Obituary

Edwin O. Brown FAYETTEVILLE - -,Edwin Oscar Brown 81, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at the N.C. State Veterans Nursing Home. Born to the late Oscar Lee and Almira Blanche Brown in Athens, Tenn., on March 22, 1928, he was a veteran of the Army and a welder by trade. He was also a well-known guitarist in the Fayetteville area from the early 1970s until his retirement in the early 1990s. He is survived by a son, Danny and wife Kim of Cedar Creek, daughter Jean and husband Brant Jackson of Hope Mills, son Bob and wife Anna of Fayetteville, daughter Debbie of Collinsville, Va., daughter Kimberly of St. Louis, daughter Melissa Mitchell of Ellesberry, Mo., and son Loran of Rockway Beach, Mo.; 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie of Arkansas; a brother, Jake of Georgia; a sister, Kate of Tennessee; and a son, Eddie Lee of Fayetteville. A memorial service is to be conducted at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at Faith Community Church, at 1075 Southern Ave., Fayetteville. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Faith Community Church. Services entrusted to Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
