January 10, 1930 – August 11, 2023
Edwin William Drews, 93, of Clemmons and formerly Fayetteville passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023, at the home of his daughter.
Edwin was born in Cook County, Illinois to the late Ernest John Drews and Edna Koester Drews. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW and enjoyed driving veterans to appointments and delivering them meals.
He retired from Fasco Industries after 40 years of service.
He started his day with a good cup of coffee and enjoyed sweets throughout the day. He was a family man and had a deep love for everyone. Throughout his life he enjoyed roller skating, ice skating, bowling, horseshoes and playing church softball.
He led a very active life and was most passionate about dancing. He loved fishing anywhere he got the opportunity, whether it was fresh water or the beach as long as he could wet a hook.
In addition to his parents, Edwin was preceded in death by his wife, Edith O'Quinn Drews; son, Eric Lee Drews; daughter, Polly Drews Tatum; brothers, William "Buck" Drews and Ernest "Ernie" Drews.
He is survived by his children, Karen Clemmons and husband Rick; Ernest "Ernie" C. Drews and wife Vicky; Robert E. Drews and wife Janet; Tim Drews and wife Sonja; son-in-law, Greg Tatum; daughter-in-law, Natasha Drews; brother, Herbert Drews; 9 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm in the Jernigan-Warren Chapel. Burial will follow at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
