Retired Sgt. 1st Class Edwin Summers Smith, 87, of Alleghany Road, Fayetteville, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, in his home. Mr. Smith was an Army veteran. Services: Funeral, 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Grace Baptist Church with the Rev. Brian Woodall officiating. Visitation: 6 to 8 tonight at Jernigan-Warren Funeral Home. Survived by: Daughters, Joann Hull of Weston, W.Va., Shirley Smith of Falls Church, Va., and Vivian Smith of Fayetteville; son, Ed Smith of King City, Ore.; stepdaughters, Evelyn Brewington of Hope Mills and Jamie Kaye Pacheco of Massachusetts; a stepson, Jimmy Orr of South Carolina; a sister, Bertha Crips of Lebanon, Tenn.; and several grandchildren.
